Pocket Rocket

The Pocket Rocket is my basic, "pocket-sized" tamper.  It's roughly 3-1/2" long.  The body is made of one type of wood, with a contrasting cap made of another type of wood.  The foot is about 1" long and is, of course, solid brass.

The Pocket Rocket is a solid tamper and does not contain an internal pick or tool.  The interior of the Pocket Rocket contains a brass rod that joins the wood body with the brass foot, providing durability.  Like all JAGWAL tampers, the Pocket Rocket is designed to withstand extremely vigorous tamping <g>.

The base price of a Pocket Rocket is $30 including US shipping.  I'll occasionally adjust prices up or down depending on cost of materials.  Please click on the link at left to see the Pocket Rockets I currently have for sale.

Big Daddy

As the name suggests, the Big Daddy is considerably larger than the Pocket Rocket.  At approximately 4-5/8", the Big Daddy features an internal stainless-steel tool or pick.  The body and cap of the Big Daddy are made of a single type of wood, accented by trim rings of brass and a decorative material such as ivory micarta.  As on the Pocket Rocket, the foot of the Big Daddy is approximately 1" long and is made of solid brass.

The body of the Big Daddy contains a brass tube that joins the wooden body and the brass foot.  The cap screws into this tube, providing a durable and long-lasting brass-to-brass connection.  Like all JAGWAL tampers, the Big Daddy is waxed and buffed to a gloss finish.

The base price of a Big Daddy is $60 including US shipping.  I'll occasionally adjust pricing up or down depending on cost of materials (e.g. the malachite material is somewhat more expensive than the ivory micarta). Please click on the link at left to see the Big Daddies I currently have for sale.

Cruiser

Since I started JAGWAL, many people have asked for a pocket-sized tamp with an internal pick or tool.  I started fiddling with designs over the summer, and finished a couple pieces before the Columbus show.  I polished one of the prototype pieces on a Sunday afternoon, stuck it in my pocket, and forgot about it.  In fact, it was a nice day, so I grabbed my jacket and helmet, got on my motorcycle, and went for an afternoon ride.  When I got home, I found the tamper in my pocket and realized that I could've been cruising around with it indefinitely.  Thus was born the Cruiser.

Other than the fact that they're all about 3-1/2" long and have an internal pick, there really isn't a "standard" Cruiser.  So far, most have had the tapered foot and most have had the rounded groove cut into the upper trim ring.  The base price on a Cruiser is $60, including US shipping.  As with the other JAGWAL products, I'll occasionally adjust pricing up or down depending on cost of materials.

McMurphy

These are the wild cards ... the one-of-a-kind, "what was I thinking" pieces that make it out of the shop while my back is turned.  Don't ask me what's in there ... I'm not sure exactly how they happen.  Just go to the page and see for yourself.
