The Back Room
This is the Back Room -- the JAGWAL version
of a factory outlet. You won't find any junk here; if anything is cracked,
broken, or has similar issues, I won't sell it. Period.
What you will find here are pieces that, for
one reason or another, I decided to mark down from their previous or normal
prices. Maybe I took a second look at a piece and just didn't like the
grain quite enough to ask full price. Or maybe I had used a material that,
on second thought, I don't really like very much.
Anyway, that's how items end up in the Back
Room. These are one of a kind, so please send an
e-mail
if you're interested in buying one of them.
BR0006
Big Daddy in Manzanita Burl with Ivory Micarta trim, 3/16" pipe tool. I like the manzanita burl, I
don't think this piece has the nicest grain of the lot. So, I'm letting it
go for $30
BR0007
This is a nice little pocket tamper, about 1/4" shorter than a standard Pocket
Rocket, made from cocobolo wood. Not, to quote Seinfeld, that there's
anything wrong with that. I just haven't made anything else from cocobolo
wood, so this one has been a bit of an orphan. Give it a good home for
$20
BR0008
This is a large pocket tamper, about 4" in length, that is made of bloodwood
with an ivory micarta trim ring. I had made it when I was first evaluating
trim materials. It's been hanging around ever since; get it out of here
for $20
BR0009 I was tinkering with some 9/16" brass, trying out some
designs for larger tamper feet. This is one of the prototypes. It's
made of leucospermum, which is a shrub wood that has striking grain. The
accents are synthetic amber, and the internal tool is cut from 1/8" stainless
steel. I'm not nuts about the tapered cap, so it's out of here for $35
RESERVED
BR0010 This is a Cruiser in Striped Maple, which is one of my
favorite woods; it has a smooth finish and very attractive grain. The
accents are synthetic mother-of-pearl, and the internal tool is cut from 1/8"
stainless steel. The cap of this piece has one spot where the grain is
open. It looks like a crack, but it isn't -- it's merely an internal flaw
in the wood (if the wood were cracked, I wouldn't sell it). Anyway, it's a
pretty nice piece, especially at only $45
BR0011 Here's another one of the "big foot" prototypes. This
one is made of briar, with an accent ring of black buffalo horn. The briar
is mostly cross-grain and birdseye and has been given a light red stain.
The body of this piece tapers slightly; I was going for a sort of
exclamation-point look. The internal tool is cut from 1/8" stainless
steel. This one's funky enough I could've put it on the McMurphy page, I
guess, but it's already here, so that's that. $50
